ASTROLGERS AND ASTROLOGICAL COUNSELING

Who is an astrologer?

An astrologer would typically be defined as someone who predicts the future by positions of the planets, the sun and the moon. A professional who studies and practices the art of astrology. Observers of the stars. Call them what you may, they are as prevalent in today’s society as the number of stars in the sky.

What do Astrologers do?

Astrologers or Astrologists practice more than one form of astrology. Typically their work involves drawing up a horoscope based on the persons date, place and time of birth and interpreting the position of planets and their placement, in order to predict the future of that person, to determine the auspiciousness of a business undertaking, etc.

Early Astrologers:

The early astrologers are believed to have originated in Mesopotamia, in the 2nd millennium. They practiced a system of omen astrology where they foretold the arrival of omens, like floods, famines, plague, wars etc. Some of the famous noted astrologers were:

  • A. Frank Glahan
  • Alan Leo
  • Abu Mashar
  • Benjamin Franklin
  • Carl Jung
  • David Frawley
  • Galileo Galilei
  • Gautama Siddha
  • Gayatri Devi
  • Hippocrates
  • Isaac Newton
  • Johannes Kepler
  • Linda Goodman
  • Ptolomey
  • Shakuntala Devi

Choosing an Astrologer:

So how do you choose the right person to tell you what the future holds in store for you? Astrologers have diverse backgrounds, abilities and training. Here are some guidelines to choosing the right one:

  • Remember, astrologers come in various forms just like any other worker like a doctor or an architect. Choose an astrologist with the same care that you would take in choosing any other professional.
  • First of all, astrology is not an exact science, so whatever an astrologer tells you is almost always dependent on what kind of a person he/ she is. So beware of the fakes and the pretenders.
  • If you are going to an astrologist for the first time, do a bit of research, talk to friends and relatives.
  • Make a set of the astrologers that you think you want to go to. Speak to them first over the phone, try to find out if he sounds genuine or not. Don’t go to the first one that you find.
  • You might want to consider a person with experience as well as the age of the person. Often the reputation can also be considered as a parameter.
  • Try and get to know him better. Ask him about his educational qualifications, his training, background etc. Many astrologers are self taught and there is nothing wrong with that.

Points you need to observe during an astrological visit:

  • Was the astrologer pessimistic or optimistic? Too much either way can mean that the astrologer wasn’t realistic enough.
  • Did he make tall claims or promise something extravagant? Again that is an indication that he is not for real.
  • To have a good astrological consultation, you have to comfortable and at ease with your astrologer, and to accomplish this you need to bond with and know your astrologer personally.
  • Would this man respect your privacy?

Would he be the kind of person that you would recommend your friends to go to?
